San Diego, CA
We are bringing International Beach Soccer to the San Diego region! Warming up for the World Beach Games happening here later this year, Beach Soccer World Wide (BSWW) is making a stop at Oceanside Beach, May 3-5, for the California Beach Soccer Cup, a FIFA sanctioned event. Featuring 4 men’s national teams from Japan, Mexico, Spain and the U.S., in addition to the women’s teams of Mexico and the U.S., BSWW is making it’s first stop on American soil in decades. With a stadium capacity of over 2,000, and the tournament being in conjunction with the Beach Soccer Championships, an estimated 70,000 + fans are expected to pass through over the weekend of Cinco de Mayo. Make sure to buy your tickets before it’s too late!
CALIFORNIA BEACH SOCCER CUP
SAN DIEGO, CA 2019
The California Beach Soccer Cup 2019 will be the first installment of a BSWW event in California. The event will take place at Oceanside Beach, and include three days of international competition. The California Beach Soccer Cup will maximize the live entertainment, festivities, and culture of San Diego’s active lifestyle, and bring exposure to a rapidly growing and competitive sport.
Beach Soccer is played on a field that is roughly 40 yards long by 30 yards wide. There are three periods, each 12 minutes long, with short, two to three minute breaks in between. Each team starts with five players on the sand, including one goalkeeper, and unlimited substitutions are allowed, in comparison to traditional soccer’s limit. Among more minor differences, beach soccer has been designed to create a fan-friendly, high-paced enviroment full of action.
